Terms of service

1. Seller

The seller is RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd, trading online through The Light Shop.

The Contact Information and Legal Notice published on this store form part of these terms.

2. Governing law and mandatory rights

These terms are governed by applicable South African law.

Nothing excludes or limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), or other applicable law.

3. Product information

The Light Shop aims to describe products accurately using available manufacturer and product information.

Material errors or uncertainty are corrected rather than protected by a broad disclaimer.

4. Prices and currency

Transactions are presented in South African rand (ZAR).

Final product pricing, delivery charges and applicable taxes or fees are presented before the customer finally submits the order.

Only payment methods actually enabled in checkout are represented as available.

5. Reviewing and correcting the transaction

Before finally placing an order, customers can review the cart, change quantities or remove items and can review or correct the information requested during checkout before submission.

6. Order submission and acceptance

The customer's submitted order constitutes an offer to purchase.

An automated order-received confirmation acknowledges receipt but does not constitute acceptance.

RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd accepts the order when The Light Shop sends a dispatch confirmation or collection-ready confirmation.

Before acceptance, genuine stock unavailability or a legally recognisable obvious pricing error may be corrected or the offer declined, with prompt customer notification and refund where payment has been taken, always subject to applicable consumer law.

This is not a blanket “errors and omissions” right to escape valid orders.

7. Payment

Only payment methods actually enabled in the approved checkout are represented as available.

Bob Pay is not represented as active before separately authorised activation.

8. Returns, refunds and cancellations

The Return and Refund Policy forms part of these terms.

It provides the applicable statutory return, cancellation and refund rights unless RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd later deliberately approves an additional voluntary policy.

Before checkout through the controlled storefront path, the customer must positively accept the Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy.

The acceptance control is not pre-selected and checkout remains unavailable until acceptance.

9. Delivery

The Shipping Policy forms part of these terms.

Free delivery over R1,000 applies to qualifying orders. Other charges, options and material lead times must match the amount and information presented for the applicable transaction.

10. Quality, defects and warranties

Mandatory statutory rights apply in addition to manufacturer warranties.

A manufacturer warranty does not replace rights available under the CPA.

11. Privacy

Personal information is processed under the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

12. Complaints and external dispute resolution

Please first contact The Light Shop Customer Service at:

info@thelightshop.co.za
021 447 0105

so that we can investigate and try to resolve the complaint.

Where applicable, unresolved consumer-goods or services disputes may also be referred to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) through its published complaint channels.

This statement does not represent that RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd is currently a registered CGSO participant.

13. Access to and retention of the transaction record

After an order is submitted, the customer receives transaction and order communications at the email address supplied for the order.

These communications can be saved, downloaded or printed so that the customer can maintain a record of the transaction.

Where Shopify customer-account order history is available, it provides an additional access route but is not the only record mechanism.

RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd retains applicable sales, invoice and transaction records for the statutory business and tax record-keeping periods, which are generally at least five years in applicable South African tax and VAT circumstances.

During the applicable retention period, a customer may request a copy of transaction information held by RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd by contacting info@thelightshop.co.za and providing enough information to identify the order.

14. Liability

Nothing in these terms contracts out of mandatory South African consumer rights.

Any limitation applies only to the extent permitted by law.

15. Changes

Changes apply prospectively according to applicable law and the version presented for the relevant transaction.

Continued website use is not a substitute for required transaction disclosure or acceptance.
