RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd, trading online through The Light Shop, is the responsible party for The Light Shop ecommerce processing where it determines the purpose and means of processing.

Information we process
Depending on how you use the store, we may process:
- your name and contact details;
- billing and delivery information;
- order, product, payment-status and transaction information;
- customer-account details where an account is used;
- communications, support, return and complaint records;
- device, browser, cookie and storefront-usage information generated by Shopify and enabled services; and
- information reasonably required for fraud prevention, security, accounting, tax and legal compliance.
Why we process information
We process personal information where reasonably necessary to:
- operate the ecommerce store;
- create, administer and fulfil orders;
- administer payments through enabled payment methods and providers;
- deliver goods or make them available for collection;
- communicate about orders, returns and complaints;
- maintain accounting, tax and transaction records;
- protect the store, customers and transactions against misuse or security incidents;
- operate reviews and customer-service tools; and
- conduct analytics or marketing where lawfully permitted and subject to the applicable consent and opt-out controls.
Shopify and service providers
The store is hosted on Shopify.
To operate the store and fulfil transactions, information may also be provided to categories of service providers such as payment providers, delivery and fulfilment providers, communications providers, review providers, analytics and advertising services, IT and security providers, and professional advisers, but only to the extent reasonably required for the relevant purpose.
Current ecommerce and storefront integrations include:
- Paystack for enabled payment processing;
- Moose WhatsApp for customer communication and WhatsApp functionality;
- BiteSpeed, which remains installed pending controlled retirement;
- Google & YouTube;
- Facebook & Instagram / Meta;
- Judge.me Reviews; and
- Shopify's storefront, checkout, security and related platform services.
Bob Pay is not represented as an active payment provider until it is separately activated.
Marketing, analytics and cookies
Technologies necessary to provide the storefront, cart, checkout, security and customer-requested transaction functions may operate as required to provide those services.
Optional marketing and analytics processing is controlled through The Light Shop's customer privacy settings and is off until the customer provides the relevant consent where that consent is required.
The storefront provides controls to Accept, Decline and Manage optional privacy preferences.
The current Shopify customer-event configuration requires marketing and analytics permission for Google & YouTube, Facebook & Instagram / Meta, Moose WhatsApp and BiteSpeed customer-event pixels. Judge.me's optional analytics pixel requires analytics permission.
Some services may also provide operational functionality that is separate from their optional marketing or analytics components. For example, customer-requested WhatsApp functionality may operate as a customer communication service while optional analytics or marketing processing remains subject to the applicable privacy choice.
Customers may change or withdraw optional preferences using the privacy controls made available on the storefront.
Cross-border processing
Some technology providers may process or store information outside South Africa.
Where personal information is transferred outside South Africa, RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd applies the requirements of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) that are applicable to cross-border transfers.
Retention
Personal information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose and for periods required or permitted by law.
Transaction, accounting and tax records are retained for the applicable statutory record-keeping periods. South African tax and VAT records are generally required to be retained for at least five years in applicable circumstances.
Security
RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd uses reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the information and risks involved.
No system can promise absolute security.
Your rights and requests
Subject to POPIA and applicable law, you may exercise applicable rights of access, correction or deletion, objection, withdrawal of consent, direct-marketing opt-out and complaint.

RS Electrical and Lighting Agencies (Pty) Ltd is completing its formal Information Officer and PAIA governance process. We do not publish an unverified Information Officer name.
